Canadian Experience Class

Canadian Experience Class was introduced in 2008 but underwent regulatory changes in 2013, allowing graduates from post-secondary institutions and temporary foreign workers with Canadian experience to transition to permanent resident status. Therefore, it is a pathway for temporary residents to convert to permanent residence.

CEC is managed by Express Entry and it selects persons on the basis of

  • Their ability to become economically established in Canada,
  • Their work experience in Canada, and
  • Their intention to reside in a province or territory in Canada.

The intended clients of the CEC include:

  • International students Program
  • Temporary foreign worker
  • International Mobility Programs (IMP),
  • And the Post Graduation Work Permit Program (PGWPP), a program specifically designated for international graduates
